OKAbout JoyYou Card “Easy Transfer” Service
JoyYou Card “Easy Transfer” service allows you to transfer the services or offers in your existing Octopus, including consumption vouchers, Consumption Voucher Scheme registration record, eligible spending record, Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS), access control system and valid "Persons with Disabilities Status", etc., if applicable to your JoyYou Card at an Octopus Service Point, so you can consolidate and manage your daily payment transactions for transit or shopping with just a single Octopus - JoyYou Card.
Most of the services / offers on the Octopus will be transferred to the JoyYou Card. They include:
- Deposit and remaining value on the Octopus
- Consumption vouchers, Consumption Voucher Scheme registration record and eligible spending record¹
- Automatic Add Value Service²
- Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme³
- MTR Points in MTR Mobile Account⁴
- Residential Building / Commercial Building / Campus Access Control System
- Campus Management System
- Residential Building / Commercial Building / Campus Shuttle Services
- Citybus Fare Concessions
- Valid "Persons with Disabilities Status"
¹ You can continue using your original Octopus with the registration record to collect the vouchers under the 2023 Consumption Voucher Scheme, and re-registration is not required. If you would like to transfer the Octopus registered with the Consumption Voucher Scheme to JoyYou Card, we recommend that you use the "Easy Transfer” service after you have collected the First-instalment Voucher ($3,000) on 16 April 2023.
² If both of your original Octopus and existing JoyYou Card have valid Automatic Add Value Service, the Automatic Add Value Service on your original Octopus will be disabled after the card transfer. Please continue to use the Automatic Add Value Service in your JoyYou Card.
³ The record of public transport expenses and any uncollected subsidy of the existing Octopus will be transferred to the JoyYou Card. After successful transfer, you can collect the relevant subsidy with the JoyYou Card from the 16th of the following month onwards.

The “Easy Transfer” service is free of charge. However, please note that the On-Loan Octopus will be retained, and the Sold Octopus will be disabled after the transfer.
The services / offers of the following Octopus can be transferred to a JoyYou Card with “Easy Transfer” service:
- On-Loan Octopus including Anonymous Adult, Elder and Personalised Octopus.
- Sold Octopus including Special / Limited Edition Octopus, Octopus Watches, Mini Octopus, Octopus Ornaments.
Services / offers which will not be transferred to a JoyYou Card, including On-Loan Child Octopus, Bank Co-Brand Octopus, Octopus Mobile SIM and Octopus on Mobile
Please note that, just like the On-Loan Octopus, the JoyYou Card includes a refundable deposit of $50. Therefore, if you transfer the services / offers on your On-Loan Octopus to a JoyYou Card, the $50 deposit on your existing On-Loan Octopus will be transferred to the JoyYou Card, and the On-Loan Octopus will be retained after the card transfer. If you have a Sold Octopus and transfer the services / offers to a JoyYou Card that has never been reloaded, the system will deduct $50 from the remaining value on this Sold Octopus, which will become the JoyYou Card deposit after the transfer. The Octopus function of the Sold Octopus will be disabled after the transfer.
No, this is your choice. The advantage of transferring the services / offers on your existing Octopus to the JoyYou Card is that you can consolidate and manage your daily payment transactions for transit or shopping with just a single Octopus - JoyYou Card. However, you can choose to keep your existing Octopus* and use the JoyYou Card to enjoy the $2 Scheme.
* Please use your Octopus regularly. If it has not had any add value or payment transaction for three years, it will become an Inactive Octopus and you will have to pay the Inactive Octopus Administrative Fee
If you would like to transfer the Consumption Voucher Scheme registration record from the original Octopus to a JoyYou Card, we recommend that you use the “Easy Transfer” service after you have collected the First-instalment Voucher ($3,000) with your original Octopus from 16 April 2023 onwards. Yes, it can. However, we recommend that you continue using the original Octopus with the registration record to collect / spend the vouchers, and use the “Easy Transfer” service after you have collected the First-instalment Voucher ($3,000) from 16 April 2023 onwards. Besides, please note that if you use the “Easy Transfer” service on or before the following date, you can start collecting the Second-instalment Voucher from 16 July 2023 onwards¹. Details are as follows:
