About Card Replacement
The Final Phase of the First Generation On-Loan Octopus Replacement Programme has ended! All First Generation On-Loan Octopus (without brackets for the last digit of the card number) are now invalid. If you still have one of these invalid Octopus, please take it for replacement.
From mid-June 2020 onwards, Octopus will arrange the replacement of On-Loan Octopus issued from 2002 onwards, in batches. On-Loan Octopus in each batch will receive a special prompt – a "Dood~Dood Dood" sound – when tapped on Octopus readers. This prompt will be in effect for at least three months, serving as the final call notification, to remind customers that their On-Loan Octopus needs to be replaced. To continue using Octopus services, customers should replace their On-Loan Octopus before they become invalid, free of charge.
|Special Reader Prompt for Card Replacement|
The replacement programme aims to keep in-circulation Octopus up-to-date with security and technological advances, so all customers can enjoy the latest Octopus services. The programme currently applies only to Anonymous Octopus and Personalised Octopus. A specially designed On-Loan Octopus featuring the new corporate logo can be mailed to On-Loan Personalised Octopus holders who register for a replacement card online.
