Octopus Kids' Wise Spending Happy Tour

Among the 200 under-privileged kids who participated in the Octopus Kids' Nurturing Programme 2008, 50 children who showed exceptional enthusiasm and improvement were invited to join a special activity on 28 June 2008.

Octopus Kids' Wise Spending Happy Tour gave the children a fun-filled day outside their local areas, as well as a unique opportunity to learn and practise sound principles of money management.

The children started their tour by travelling to Hung Hom to watch the movie "Kung Fu Panda". Each was then given an Octopus with a value of HK$100 to cover expenses for food, souvenirs for families and a ferry ride across scenic Victoria Harbour. Under the guidance of Octopus volunteers, the kids planned their spending and learned the difference between needs and wants.

The tour proved to be an eye-opening and joyful experience for these children. It was the first time that 65% of them had watched a movie at a cinema, and half of them had never ridden on a ferry before!
