After four months of learning and training, the students participating in the Octopus Kids' Nurturing Programme 2007 were proud to showcase their talents and creativity at the Graduation Ceremony on 26 January 2008.
At the ceremony there was a display of students' Chinese paintings, photographic collages and mathematical models, as well as performances of taekwondo, English drama and African drums. Prudence Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Octopus, handed out awards to the financial management game winners.
The programme received positive feedback from parents, children and educators. In a post-programme survey, 75% of parents considered the programme helpful to their families; over 70% believed the programme helped develop their children's skills and potential; and over 70% of children said the programme increased their skills and confidence.
A principal of a participating primary school in Yuen Long said, "With the financial support of the programme, children who could not otherwise afford extra-curricular activities were able to join in and explore their potential. Our school organised an exhibition after the programme, and the children were thrilled to see their artworks being displayed and gaining recognition. It's a real boost to their confidence."
