Octopus Launches Free "OctoCheck" Android Mobile Application

New Customer Service Enhancement Initiative Enables Real-time Mobile Information for NFC Devices

(Hong Kong, 30 July 2012) Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) has launched an official "OctoCheck" application for Android mobile devices with a variety of features to offer users greater convenience for immediate data checks of their Octopus. This unique "OctoCheck" application is a new customer service enhancement initiative launched by OCL to provide better customer experience to users. By following three simple steps – download, register and place the Octopus beneath the mobile device, users will be able to enjoy the handy convenience brought by "OctoCheck".

Upon successful downloading of "OctoCheck" and by one-time registering the last five digits of your Octopus on the Near Field Communications (NFC) enabled mobile device, users will be able to check their Octopus transaction records by simply placing the mobile device on top of the Octopus. The remaining value, last 10 Octopus transaction records, Octopus Reward$ balance and Automatic Add Value Service data will be sent via Internet to the Octopus server for decryption and formatting, and then display on the screen. Each mobile device can hold up to 20 sets of Octopus card numbers.

For enhanced security and user privacy, the Octopus card numbers are masked on the enquiry screen of the mobile device, and all results will be cleared after 30 seconds. In addition, no enquiry results will be stored on the mobile device.

"The 'OctoCheck' Android mobile application symbolises our commitment to offering better customer service whilst keeping abreast with the social trend. We will continue with our research and development works to offer more innovative solutions in making the Hong Kong citizens' everyday life easier," remarked Sunny Cheung, CEO of Octopus Cards Limited.
