| (Hong Kong, 17 July 2012) The "Octopus ‧Lingnan Pass", jointly launched by Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) and Guangdong Lingnan Pass Company Limited (LNP) this month as their first-of-its-kind co-named cards, have received overwhelming market reception. 3,000 sets of the Commemorative Limited Edition of the cards have been sold out in Hong Kong within two weeks since their launch on 2 July.
At the same time, the Sold Adult "Octopus ‧Lingnan Pass", priced at HK$98 each, will be available for sale starting tomorrow, 18 July, at all MTR and Light Rail Customer Service Centres (excluding Airport Express, Racecourse and Disneyland Resort stations) throughout Hong Kong. The "Lingnan Pass‧Octopus" will also be concurrently launched for public sale at designated sales points of Lingnan Pass in Guangdong Province at RMB80 each.
The "Octopus ‧Lingnan Pass" and "Lingnan Pass ‧Octopus" are run on a dual electronic purse model that allows both Hong Kong and Guangdong Province residents to travel and spend with one card combining both the Octopus and Lingnan Pass functions. Currently, cardholders can use the HKD e-purse in Hong Kong and the RMB e-purse in 16 cities of Guangdong Province, and add value to the respective purses at authorised add value service points. With significant added convenience and efficiency for cross-border travel and consumption, the two-in-one co-named cards mark an important milestone for interoperability as well as enhanced integration and collaboration between Hong Kong and Guangdong Province.
