Octopus Automatic Add Value Service Offers a Double Surprise –
Free Love Series Ornaments

(Hong Kong, 2 March 2010) Shoppers can now enjoy a hassle-free payment experience with Octopus Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) and earn a trendy Octopus charm. From 3 March to 30 April 2010, first-time subscribers who successfully set up the service with any credit cards issued in Hong Kong and make the first AAVS transaction on or before 31 May 2010 are eligible to redeem an Octopus Ornament – Love Series worth HK$218 – at no extra cost.

To apply for AAVS and get the free gift is easy. Simply call the AAVS hotline 2266 2338 to register for the gift. Customers can then choose to apply AAVS over the phone, by fax, online or at one of the participating banks*. Successful applicants who top up their Octopus with AAVS once before 31 May 2010 are eligible to redeem a free Love Series Octopus Ornament. The attractive ornaments, embossed with distinctive patterns, come in stylish designs combining the functionalities of Octopus, mini photo pouch, key ring and charm in one.

AAVS is currently provided by over 20 banks or card-issuing companies. The AAVS feature is available for all Octopus products.  Whenever the stored value in the AAVS-enabled Octopus reaches zero or a negative balance, the Octopus will be automatically reloaded with either HK$500 or HK$250, subject to the customer's choice. Each Octopus can be auto-reloaded once a day and the reloaded amount will be deducted from customers' designated account. Customers are also entitled to lost Octopus protection. In addition, credit card issuers give bonus points or cash rebates for AAVS transactions allowing customers to earn points or cash bonuses even faster than before.

Like all Octopus products, the Love Series Ornaments can be used on public transport and at many retail outlets across Hong Kong. They can be used to apply for the Octopus AAVS and registered for the Octopus Rewards Programme to earn Reward$.
