Multipurpose Octopus Processor (MOP)
Used by over 4,000 vehicles in Hong Kong - including cross-border buses.
Functions
- Has a Driver Unit to help the driver select routes and monitor payment
- Has a Main Unit for passengers to pay fares and view transaction details
- Checks ride validity and processes fare payment quickly and reliably
- Can be mounted at a convenient location for passengers
- Allows for different payment schemes on different routes
- Allows for different fares to be collected at different sections of a journey
- Uses a handheld device for data collection and transmission to the back-end for processing
- Supports intermodal discounts with other Octopus payment systems
