Care For Our Community
Octopus and the Hong Kong community
We have a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. Through a wide spectrum of initiatives, from programmes for underprivileged children and rehabilitation transport to innovative e-charity initiatives, charity fundraisers and more, Octopus supports the community in a wide variety of ways.
Co-organised with St. James' Settlement, this programme helps underprivileged students enhance their all-round development by taking part in extracurricular activities.
OCL joins hands with the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation to launch this scheme that provides accessible point-to-point transportation service to low-income wheelchair users. The scheme aims to help them better integrate into the community, thereby contributing to a harmonious and caring society.
OCL and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service jointly introduce the Octopus e-Charity Fundraising Programme, with OCL offering free Octopus readers and comprehensive technical support for fundraising events. It provides a more convenient donation channel for non-profit making charitable organisations and the public.
OCL joins the Change for Good inflight fundraising programme co-organised by Cathay Pacific Airways and the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK). The programme enables passengers to donate Sold and Anonymous On-Loan Octopus cards and products, transferring the remaining value and deposit to UNICEF HK.
Since setting up in 2007, the Octopus Volunteer Team has contributed over 13,000 service hours in support of various community volunteering projects.
The Octopus corporate website received the Gold Award under the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme in 2015 and 2016, demonstrating our commitment to promoting inclusiveity and equal access to the Internet.
