Press Release 13 March 2023
Octopus Reminds the Public to Have Registered Octopus Cards Under the 2022 Consumption Voucher Scheme
Ready for the New Round of Consumption Voucher Octopus Service Ambassadors to Assist Citizens at MTR Stations
(Hong Kong, 13 March 2023) With the recent announcement of the 2023 Consumption Voucher Scheme (CVS) by the HKSAR Government, Octopus Cards Limited (Octopus) is reminding people that they do not have to re-register for the new round of consumption voucher, and just to have their Octopus Cards registered under the 2022 CVS ready for the collection of the consumption vouchers from 16 April. For Octopus cards registered for the previous round of CVS that have been returned, lost or malfunctioned, people should update their consumption voucher registration record.
Amendment of Consumption Voucher registration record can be made on the HKSAR Government's CVS website
- If the Octopus cards that were registered with the previous CVS have been returned, lost or malfunctioned – people should update their stored value facility (SVF) account registration record on the CVS Website on or before 29 March in order to collect the 2023 first-instalment voucher with another Octopus card. People with special needs can visit the eight Consumption Voucher Scheme temporary service centres for staff assistance.
- People who are not able to update their SVF account registration record on or before 29 March can only collect their first-instalment voucher with their newly registered Octopus card from the 16th day in the following month after submission of application and successful update of record by the HKSAR Government.
JoyYou Card holders to note
- JoyYou Card holders, who previously used another Octopus card to collect the 2022 CVS, can use the same Octopus card to collect the 2023 first-instalment voucher without the need for re-registration. If their Octopus cards registered for 2022 CVS have been returned, lost or malfunctioned, they can update their SVF account registration record on the CVS Website, or call the Octopus Consumption Voucher Customer Service Hotline at 2969 5588 to collect the 2023 first-instalment voucher with their JoyYou Card.
- People who have just received their JoyYou Card need not rush to amend their SVF account registration record. They can use their registered Octopus cards to collect the 2023 first-instalment voucher first, and avoid any delay in their collection of such first-instalment voucher.
- Should people wish to transfer their consumption voucher scheme registration to their JoyYou Card, they can do so after collecting the first-instalment voucher, and use the "Easy Transfer Service" at the Octopus Service Points located at designated MTR stations and various locations to transfer the services (including Consumption Voucher Scheme registration) on their registered Octopus card to JoyYou Card. For enquiries, please call the Octopus Consumption Voucher Customer Service Hotline at 2969 5588.
Octopus Service Ambassadors to assist people at MTR stations
- Octopus Service Ambassadors at twelve MTR stations (namely, Tsuen Wan, Jordan, Tuen Mun, Lam Tin, Chai Wan, Tin Shui Wai, Sheung Shui, Hang Hau, Yau Tong, Mei Foo, Shek Kip Mei and Fanling) are ready to help people with enquiries on collection of consumption vouchers, starting from today until 15 April, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. More stations will be added and details will be made available on the Octopus CVS website.
"As the most preferred choice of SVF for collecting consumption vouchers, we are constantly enhancing our services so that people can collect their consumption vouchers easily and conveniently,” said OCL Sales and Marketing Director Rita Li. “To make it easier for everyone – especially the elderly, Octopus Service Ambassadors are arranged at MTR stations for assistance on upcoming collection of consumption vouchers.”
