Act Now to Register with Octopus Card to Receive Consumption Vouchers

(Hong Kong, 3 July 2021) The city is entering the final countdown to the launch of the Government’s Consumption Voucher Scheme (CVS) when registration opens on 4 July 2021 (Sunday). Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) is ready to bring consumers Octopus top-up value rewards and more fabulous dining and shopping offers through partnerships with MTR and Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) shopping malls, and nearly 100 popular brands. Members of the public are encouraged to register early to receive the vouchers as soon as possible to enjoy the exciting offers.
Enjoy HK$118 in Octopus Top-up Value Upon Successful Registration
To register and collect the consumption vouchers, there is no restriction on the type of Octopus card nor is there any need to apply for a new Octopus card. Eligible Hong Kong residents only need to register with any of their existing Octopus cards (including anonymous and personalised physical Octopus card, Octopus card on Mobile, Bank Co-Brand Octopus, and Octopus ornaments, etc.) via the Government’s CVS website. Those who successfully register online and add their Octopus cards to the Octopus App will receive HK$18 in top-up value.
Any consumer who makes eligible payments of HK$200 or above up to a total of HK$1,000 within a month with the registered Octopus card can receive HK$50 in Octopus top-up value. Each consumer will be entitled to receive a maximum of HK$100 in Octopus top-up value during the entire promotional period between August and September. Vouchers collected via Octopus card can be spent on retail and dining in a way similar to how Octopus stored value is used.
Spend the Vouchers Quickly, Slowly, and Anytime
Consumption vouchers will be disbursed in three instalments. Consumers will receive the third instalment of HK$1,000 consumption voucher if their cumulative total eligible spending has reached HK$4,000 within 4.5 months at the earliest or up to 7 months from the date of the disbursement of the first consumption voucher. There is no expiry deadline and no spending restriction on the last instalment of voucher. Consumers can enjoy the greatest flexibility by choosing to spend the vouchers quickly, slowly and at any time they wish.
Over HK$3 Million Worth of eCoupons
OCL has partnered with 30 plus MTR Malls and SHKP Malls (details at Annex 1) to offer exclusive dining and shopping privileges. 12 MTR Malls will start offering a maximum of 17% discount on shopping and dining exclusively for Octopus from early July. From August onwards, 22 SHKP Malls will offer eCoupons worth over HK$3 million. Consumers using Octopus card to collect the HK$5,000 vouchers could make more purchases by riding on the numerous offers.
Details of shopping privileges at the MTR Malls and SHKP malls are listed below:
- From 4 July to 18 August, the 12 MTR Malls will offer
- 17% discount on dining and shopping with Octopus card
- HK$50 off in term of eCoupon upon spending of HK$500 at fashion and beauty merchants of selected malls
- HK$50 / HK$20 off in term of eCoupon upon spending of HK$300 / $200 at dining outlets of selected malls
- From 1 August to 31 December, the 22 SHKP Malls will offer
- cash coupons by payments with Octopus cards
- HK$30 eCoupon upon spending of HK$600, applicable for any consumption purposes
