Community support
Octopus also supports various charities in their community and environment initiatives.
To promote a greener, better environment for Hong Kong, Octopus is an active supporter of Green Power Hike. Through giving donations and sending teams to participate in this annual fundraising activity along Hong Kong Trail, Octopus supports Green Power’s work on environmental education and conservation.
Oxfam Trailwalker is a major fundraising sporting event in Hong Kong. Since 2002, Octopus has been sending teams to take the 100-km challenge along the MacLehose Trail, raising fund to support Oxfam's commitment in poverty alleviation and emergency relief.
Octopus pledges our support to MTR Race Walking, an annual fundraising activity organised by MTR Corporation and Hong Kong Amateur Athlete Association. Race walking teams from Octopus, joining over 1,000 participants, took to the street in the heart of Central business district to raise funds for the promotion of healthy living.
Skyhigh Creative Partners is a multimedia training initiative encompassing radio, theatre, music, film and animation. It strives to nurture the creative talent of young people in a supportive environment.
In 2008, Octopus produced for Skyhigh Creative Partners a series of special Octopus products that were designed by cutting edge cultural trendsetters such as 903 DJs. All sales proceeds, after costs were deducted, went to the programme.

Octopus produced two types of Octopus to help raise funds for the Community Chest of Hong Kong to commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2008. Proceeds, after costs were deducted, went to the charity organisation's member social welfare agencies.
Ronald McDonald House Charities raises funds for sick children and their families. They organised a Kidathon as the closing event of their 2008 World Children's Day activities. Octopus had an opportunity to sponsor a photo corner at this very worthwhile event.
