Corporate Profile

Our Corporate Structure

Established in 2005, Octopus Holdings Limited is owned by the major transport operators in Hong Kong and is also the holding company of Octopus Cards Limited, operator of one of the world's leading contactless smart card payment systems.

The holding company was incorporated after a restructuring that was aimed at spinning off Octopus' non-payment businesses into new, separate subsidiaries. The new units would also be independent of the Octopus payment business that is regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. This creates a better environment for future business development and operational efficiency.

There are five subsidiaries within the Octopus corporate structure:

Octopus Cards Limited

Operates one of the world's leading contactless smart card payment systems.

Octopus Rewards Limited

Responsible for the development and operation of the customer loyalty platform, Octopus Rewards.

Octopus International Projects Limited

Provides automatic fare collection solutions internationally.

Octopus Investments Limited

An investments holding company.

Octopus China Investments Limited

An investments holding company for China-related projects.

Launched in 1997, Octopus is one of the world's leading and most widely used contactless smart card payment systems. Octopus strives for continuous innovation of our technology, launching new services in Hong Kong in both payment and non-payment areas. Octopus also seeks to export this convenience to other parts of the world.
