Established in 2005, Octopus Holdings Limited’s shareholders comprise major transport operators in Hong Kong, namely, MTR Corporation Limited, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, The Kowloon Motor Bus Co.(1933) Ltd. and Sun Ferry Services Company Limited.
Octopus Cards Limited, the main subsidiary of Octopus Holdings Limited, operates the electronic payment system and the eponymous contactless smart cards and related products and solutions, regulated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
The shareholding structure enables Octopus to build the best customer experience and grow a portfolio of businesses that includes core and non-payment businesses, providing the agility to innovate and collaborate with industry ecosystem partners.
